Install on iPhone or iPad

Install Tendly before you set up your baby log. On iPhone and iPad the Home Screen app keeps its own storage, separate from Safari, and Safari can clear data for websites you haven't used for 7 days.

1. Open your private link from START HERE in Safari (not a private tab).
2. Tap Share. If it isn't in the toolbar, tap ⋯ first.
3. Choose Add to Home Screen (under View More if you don't see it), then Add.
4. Open Tendly from your Home Screen and set up your baby log there.

Chrome on iPhone works the same way: tap Share in the address bar, then Add to Home Screen.

If the Home Screen app shows the Tendly product page, paste your private link into the box at the bottom of that page and tap Open Tendly.

Install on Android

1. Open your private link from START HERE in Chrome.
2. Tap Chrome's menu ⋮, then Install (it may say Add to Home screen or Install app), then Install again.
3. Open Tendly from its icon on your Home screen.

Install on a Windows, Mac or ChromeOS computer

• Chrome or Edge: open your private link, then choose Install in the address bar. Tendly opens in its own window and can be pinned to the taskbar or Dock.
• Safari on a Mac: open your private link, then choose File › Add to Dock.
• Firefox: can't install apps. Tendly works fully in a normal tab; bookmark it.

Open Tendly with your private link

1. Open START HERE.pdf from your Etsy download and tap Open Tendly.
2. Use your normal browser, not a private or incognito window: Tendly keeps your baby log in ordinary browser storage.
3. Afterwards Tendly opens at tendly.jykdigital.com without the link. Keep the PDF in case you ever need the link again.

Your link is for you, your partner and the caregivers who look after your baby, so they can open Tendly on their own phones and share your baby log with Family Sync. Please don't share it with anyone else or post it online.

Set up your baby log

Choose Set up my baby log, then four short steps, about a minute. On iPhone and iPad, install Tendly first (above).

1. Tell us about your baby: type a Name or nickname and the Birth date, then choose Continue.
2. How are you feeding …? Tick any that apply: Breastfeeding, Pumping, Formula, Bottle feeding. Then choose Continue (or Skip to track everything).
3. What do you want to track? Tendly has turned on what fits how you feed. Turn any switch on or off, then choose Continue.
4. Who's using this phone? Tap Mom or Dad, or choose Other… and type your name. Then choose Start my baby log.

On the last step, Set up Family Sync now opens Family Sync next, to link a partner's or caregiver's phone. Not now opens Home; you can link later.

You can change what you track and your units later in Settings (see how), and add a second baby in Baby.

Explore the demo

Choose Explore the demo on the first screen. It opens a week in the life of Leo, seven weeks old, with Mom and Dad taking turns. You're on Mom's phone, and the demo's clock starts at 9:40 PM on the most recent Wednesday (today, if it's a Wednesday).

• Log anything you like. Nothing you do there affects your own baby log.
• Look at Home, Timeline, Insights, and, under More on a phone, Take over, Pumping, Milk stash and Doctor summary.
• The demo's amounts are in fl oz, lb and oz, inches and °F. To see them in ml, kg, cm or °C, change the units in Settings.
• Family Sync isn't available in the demo.

When you're ready, choose Start my baby log in the banner at the top, then Set up my baby log and Start my baby log. Your own baby log starts empty, and the demo is removed from this device when you finish setup.

Log a feed, diaper, sleep or pump with New

New is on every main screen (on a phone, the round button above the bottom bar). It shows a tile for each thing you track: Nurse, Bottle, Pump, Diaper, Sleep, Temp, Medicine and Note.

• A diaper: choose New, Diaper, then Wet, Dirty, Both or Dry. One tap saves it. For colour, amount or notes, choose Add details first.
• A sleep: choose New, Sleep, then Start sleep. It shows on Home under Running now; tap Woke up there when the baby wakes. Forgot to start it? Choose Log a past sleep instead.
• Timers (nursing, pumping and sleep) keep running when you close Tendly or lock the phone.
• Repeat recent, at the bottom of New, logs one of your last entries again with one tap, at the current time.
• After each save, a short message offers Undo.

More than one baby? Choose who at the top of New, under Log for: a baby, or Both (with three or more, any of them). Nursing and temperatures are logged for one baby at a time. When babies sleep at the same time, Woke up asks Who woke up. A baby you no longer log for can leave the log: in Baby, choose Edit profile, then Remove from the log. Every entry is kept, and Archived babies in Settings, under Baby log, brings the baby back.

To change or remove an entry, tap it in Timeline, then Edit or Delete. To reorder or hide tiles on this device, choose Edit actions at the bottom of New.

Nursing timers, bottles and the bottle in use

Nursing:

1. Choose New, Nurse, then Start left or Start right.
2. While nursing, use Switch to right (or Switch to left), Pause and Resume. You can close the timer: it keeps running, on Home under Running now.
3. Choose End when you're done. Each side's minutes are saved.

Already finished? In the Nursing sheet, choose Log a past session instead.

A bottle:

1. Choose New, Bottle, pick the type (Breast milk, Formula, Mixed or Other) and set Offered.
2. If the baby has finished it, choose Save. If the baby is still drinking, choose Start bottle: it shows on Home as Bottle in use, so everyone sees how long it has been open.
3. Later, tap Finish on the bottle in use, set Drank and choose Finish · drank …. To note a part without finishing, choose Record what's been drunk so far.

With breast milk and the milk stash on, the bottle takes its milk from the container marked Use next. Choose Change to pick other containers, or Fresh milk only.

Pumping and the milk stash

1. Choose New, Pump (or Start pump on Pumping). Pick Double, Left only or Right only, then Start pump.
2. While pumping, set the amount for each side. Then choose End; it shows the total.
3. Where did the milk go? Choose Baby drank it, Add to fridge, Add to freezer, Split (to share it out) or Discard. Decide later leaves it for now.

Milk stash (on a phone, under More) shows every container by place, with the one to use first marked Use next. Tap a container to use it for a bottle, move it, discard it or change it. Add milk adds milk you didn't pump with Tendly. Milk goal works out how long the stash would last.

Pumping shows your own pumps: today's and the last 7 days. Under Your plan for today, choose Add your own pump times to set times you want to pump each day. Each person who pumps has their own pumps and plan; to see someone else's, choose them under Whose pumping.

Take over and hand over

1. Open Take over (on a phone, under More). It shows the baby right now, the pinned notes, and what happened Since you were away.
2. Choose Take over from … (or Take over when nobody is on duty). You're on duty, and everyone's Home shows it.
3. While you're on duty, Your shift so far sums up your shift. Choose Add a note to leave a pinned note for the next person.
4. When you're done, choose Hand over, then Hand to … or Stop being on duty.

Add the people who look after your baby with Add caregiver, in Care team (on a phone, under More; in your own baby log, it's the first section of Family Sync). If several people share one device, choose Several people under This device: Used by there: Take over then asks Who's taking over?

Print the doctor summary or save it as a PDF

1. Open Doctor summary (on a phone, under More).
2. Under Period, choose 24 hours, 3 days, 7 days or Custom (then pick From and To).
3. Choose Print or save as PDF.
4. iPhone and iPad: in the print screen, tap Share, then Save to Files, or pick a printer. Android: choose Save as PDF as the printer, then the download button. Computer: choose Save as PDF as the destination, or a printer.

The summary lists only what was logged: feeds, pumping, diapers, sleep, temperatures, medicine, growth and notes. Tendly gives no medical advice; ask your baby's doctor about anything medical.

Choose what to track, and your units

• What you track: open Settings (on a phone, under More), then Tracking. Choose a preset (Tracking Lite, Breastfeeding + pumping, Formula, Combo or Older baby), or turn each switch on or off. Turning one off hides it; its history is kept, and turning it back on brings it back. Everyone's devices show the same.
• Units: in Settings, under Units, choose ml or fl oz, kg or lb & oz, cm or in, and °C or °F. Changing a unit changes what you see, never what was logged.
• Just this device: under This device in Settings, choose which Home cards show and the order of the Quick Add actions. Other devices keep their own.

Export your baby log to a spreadsheet

1. Open Backup (on a phone, under More).
2. Under Export to a spreadsheet, choose Export spreadsheet. You get one .xlsx file.
3. Open it in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. It starts with a Summary sheet, then a sheet for each kind of entry you track (such as Feeding, Pumping, Milk, Sleep and Diapers), one row per entry (on Milk, one per container), for every baby. Amounts are in your units.

A spreadsheet is for reading and sharing. To keep a copy you can restore, back up your baby log.

Back up your baby log

1. Open Backup (on a phone, under More) and tap Back up baby log. On iPhone and iPad, choose Save to Files; elsewhere the file goes to your Downloads folder.
2. Keep the .tendly file somewhere safe, such as iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive.
3. Back up again after a busy week. Tendly reminds you when it's been a while; choose how often in Settings, under Remind me to back up after.

What the file holds: the whole baby log: every baby and every entry, the milk stash, the pump plans, the care team, notes, settings and the baby's photo.

What it doesn't hold: each device's own choices: who uses the device, the Home cards and the order of the Quick Add actions. After a restore, Tendly asks Who's using this device? again.

Family Sync isn't a backup: a change or a deletion on one device reaches the others. Anyone with the file can read your baby log, so keep it private.

Move to a new device or to the installed app

1. On the old device (or in Safari), back up your baby log.
2. On the new device (or in the installed app), open Tendly with your private link.
3. Choose Restore from a backup file and pick the file. Tendly checks it and shows what's inside before anything changes.
4. Who's using this device? Tap your name, or choose Someone else and type it. If the whole family shares this device, choose Several people use this device.

Want to keep using both devices? Link them with Family Sync instead, and they stay up to date.

Use Tendly on more than one device

Family Sync links your phone with a partner's or caregiver's, so you both see every entry. No account needed. The other person opens Tendly with your private link on their phone.

1. On the device that has your baby log, open Family Sync (on a phone, under More) and, under Devices, choose Link another device. The first time, name this device and choose Show a code. A six-digit code and a QR code appear; they work for 5 minutes.
2. On the other device, open Tendly with your private link and choose I already use Tendly on another device. If Tendly is already set up there, open Family Sync and choose Enter a code instead; linking replaces what that device has, and a copy of it stays in Backup until the next restore or link.
3. Type the code, or choose Scan QR code and point the camera at the QR code. Then choose Link this device (Replace and link on a device that's already set up).
4. On the first device, check the name and choose Approve. The other device opens with your baby log and asks Who's using this device?: tap a name, or choose Someone else and type theirs.
5. From then on, what's logged on one device shows on the other within seconds while both are open and online. A device that was closed or offline catches up when it's opened again.

Changed on two phones: if the same entry was changed on both devices before they synced, the device that syncs second shows a Changed on two phones banner. Tap Choose, then, for each entry, Keep this phone's or Keep the other phone's version (it shows that phone's name). Until then, the log shows the other phone's version.

The baby's photo stays on the device that added it. Your baby log is encrypted on your devices before it leaves them, and only your linked devices can read it. Nobody can recover it for you, so linking isn't a backup: keep saving a backup file now and then. To stop, open Family Sync and choose Stop syncing on this device; the baby log stays on every device.

I see the Tendly product page instead of my baby log

This browser hasn't been unlocked yet, or its cookies were cleared. Open your private link from START HERE again, or paste it into the box at the bottom of the product page. Your baby log is still in this browser's storage; opening the link brings it back.
